Penny Black Poinsettia Embellished Christmas Card

card 1
I am thrilled to be the November Guest Designer at the Penny Black and More Challenge Blog.  To celebrate I will be posting Penny Black projects on my blog all week, so come back and visit!  I have been in love with Penny Black stamps since I started stamping, 15 years ago!  The brush stroke stamp line is my favorite because it is so versatile.  I tried to think of all the things I wanted to incorporate into this card and decided that my two favorite topics are handmade paper flowers and stamped background paper.  I've combined the two into this shabby/vintage Christmas card.
card 2
To create this flower I stamped "Winter Glow" 2808L, my favorite poinsettia stamp of all time, three times in Festive Berries Distress Ink and cut it out in graduating sizes.  I used my curling techniques from my DIY Paper Flower Post HERE.  Once it was glued together, I brushed it with a gold pigment ink pad and then used gold embossing powder to make the highlights.  Then I took some tiny Prima flowers and scrunched them up and glued them to the center of the flower - viola!
card 3
For the background I stamped "Winter Scroll" 3239K in Festive Berries repeatedly onto kraft cardstock, then inked it lightly and distressed the edges.  I embossed "Holly Christmas" 2205F in gold to create a little "gift tag" and layered over burlap paper and a gold loopy bow.

Please head over to Penny Black and More and see what the DT has created and link up your Penny Black project for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

I am with you on the Brush Stroke range Autumn, the are indeed so versatile and lend themselves so well to those of us who like a bit of ink.

Your Christmas creation is glorious and the Poinsettia has so much dimension with all those layers and splashed of gold.

Hope you have a good Sunday.

I love how you've used it for wrapping paper and for making this beautiful card! I love this beautiful flower (that sure looks like a gilded poinsettia), and I love the added texture of the burlap! Stunning! Hugs!

to me, the distress edges looks very perfect! i use tim hotz distress edge but cant achieve the same result as yours :p

Christine said...

I horrible with the Tim Hotz distress thingy. I get better results using a pumice stone. hahaha

I usually use the edge of my scissors! Ha, so many ways to do the same thing. I'll have to try the pumice stone. :) Thanks Christine!
